FAQ

Do You Offer Drop-In Visits?

Generally, No. Live-in cat care is my specialty. However, if I am doing a long-term live-in catsit in a walkable city with good public transit, I may offer drop-in visits to residents in my local vicinity during my stay. I will be offering drop-in visits for a limited time within the West Philly area through August 31, 2023. Please refer to this page for more information.

I do not offer drop-in visits in Northampton, MA. I am on a bike and I live in a hilly, rural-suburban area, so drop-in visits take a lot more energy from me than it might for someone who either has a car, or who lives in a walkable or bus-able part of town. Sometimes, weather does not permit for me to bike. Although I am a full-time biker, it’s really important for me to have the choice to ride, only when it feels safe and suitable for me.

I also believe that live-in care is better for cats, especially only-child kitties, or cats who are not bonded with each other, or cats who do not get to entertain themselves outdoors at their discretion, or cats who do entertain themselves outdoors and who might need someone to check if they’re OK when they get home, or cats who find comfort in sleeping with a human at nighttime. Cats who are new to the family or who have health issues may also benefit from a caretaker who is available to them for more than just 1 hour per day.

All of these situations make a loving, live-in cat-sitter particularly beneficial, as it reduces separation-anxiety, and offers emotional wellness for the cat. 💜

Can you sit for my Dog?

No, I do not offer dogcare. I only care for cats, as this is my specialty and what is in my heart. I do love dogs in my heart, and I want them to live happy Pupp-Pupp lives! 🐶 But generally speaking, I love them from a distance. Dogs are very different animals, and they require a different temperament, type, and level of care that does not come naturally to me. Cats are just my forté.

If you plan to take your doggie on vacation with you and you’re leaving your kitties at home where they can be comfortable, this could be a great opportunity for us to work together. If you have other low-maintenance pets such as fish or birds in addition to cats, this could also be a possibility, as I cared for both as a child.

If you absolutely need someone to care for your dog (or rabbit, lizard, snake, etc.) exclusively or in addition to your cat, please be my guest and join Trusted House-Sitters with my 25% discount code (RAF526906). It’s a wonderful community of home-exchangers who would be happy to care for your dog. 🐶

Why Do You Only Sit for Women and Couples?

To be clear, I only work with single women, and couples with at least one female counterpart. And, I prefer for a woman to be my primary point of contact. It is just for my personal comfort and safety, and it’s what I’ve grown accustomed to.

Some years ago, cat-sat for a male neighbor who I personally knew and befriended, but this was an exception. He has actually left me a wonderful review!

What Do You Mean by a “Holistic Exchange” (& How does this Influence Pricing?)

Cat Nanny Love is my lifestyle business, and it is one of a few creative businesses that I own and operate. My intention for this work is not purely profit-motivated. It is here to offer me expanded entrée to travel, to create sanctuary in dwelling spaces of my choice with the animals I love and am most gifted with, and to supplement my income in a complimentary way alongside my other business endeavors.

My offering is unique in the sense that I exclusively offer live-in professional cat-care, and I prioritize longer-term stays (beyond just a standard 12 hour “overnight”) with a handful of select clients that I love, in spaces and cities I love. My “bottom line” is centered and balanced around the holistic value I gain from my service, which includes money, as well as a pleasurable atmosphere with cats, and treasured connections with clients. It is not exclusively centered around how much money I need to earn to survive. (If it were, I would structure my business very differently.) As such, I design my pricing and services according to my particular goals and intentions for this work.

🌟Please note that “holistic exchange” does NOT mean that my prices are negotiable! It just means that I consider many pieces of the pie in how I cultivate and offer my service, and the total value of what I would like to receive in exchange. 🙏🏾

Do you have Pet-Sitters Insurance, First Aid, CPR, etc?

Yes! I do have cat-sitting business insurance, which includes General Liability for property damage coverage and Pet Protection Coverage.

I plan to get my First Aid/CPR Certification for pets as well. Save the kitties! 💜

So far, all of my housesits have gone smoothly, but I still think these credentials are an excellent piece of assurance for everyone. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and skillset, and offering more value to my trusted clients.
